PLANNING

The Planning process works simultaneously with the Drafting process, and brings together the function and form the client expects. Designers work with a technician and the clients to revise final plans and budgets throughout the drafting and planning process. Most of the planning process involves choosing of materials and styles for the remodel project.

Parker and Jaime chose the following materials for their new kitchen:

  1. Cabinets were made from bamboo wood with horizontal lines, and lift-up doors on the wall
cabinets for a European contemporary look and feel.

  2. Some of the cabinets also included glass and aluminum, also incorporating the
horizontal lines of the wood cabinetry.

  3. Granite countertops in Lapidus color compliments the other colors in the newly designed space and were done with a double thick edging detail for more horizontal emphasis.

  4. Built-in appliances, dishwasher drawers and refrigerator drawers were designed to allow more functionality and unique design for the owners.

  5. The unique kitchen island was designed with a raised stainless steel countertop and support posts for the breakfast bar in combination with bamboo & sliding glass doors for spice storage.

  6. Stainless steel cylinder stove hood was selected and customized just for this space.  The piece blended with the other materials used throughout the kitchen, and opened up the views of the city for the homeowners.

  7. Cylinder shaped lighting was also added over the kitchen island, pendant lighting was
added over the kitchen table, and recessed lighting was added throughout the kitchen and
    under the cabinets
