DESIGN

The Design process works simultaneously with the Drafting process, and brings together the function and form the client expects.  Designers work with a draftsman and the clients to revise final plans and budgets throughout the design and planning process.  Most of the design process also involves choosing of materials and styles for the remodel project.

The Wiese family chose the following materials for their new kitchen:

  1. Knotty cherry cabinets that compliments the color and prairie style of the current architecture.  The cherry cabinets will have a light distressing treatment, and interior cabinet accessories requested by the client such as roll-out shelves and spice storage.

  2. Granite countertops with a worn, patina finish

  3. A built-in refrigerator and dishwasher that are hidden behind a cabinet door front were chosen because of the open floor plan and visual appeal.  The oven and range will be stainless steel.

  4. The lighting plan will introduce both task lighting, designed for specific areas in the kitchen, as well as indirect light that will brighten up the entire kitchen area and showcase the dark woods being used.

  5. The concrete floor will be cleaned and polished to brighten the kitchen and bring back it’s original caramel color.
