This particular client wanted a private consultation so Susan could see the unusual layout and style of their home and kitchen.

During the private consultation, Susan discovered important elements that would be key considerations for the final design of this remodeling project:

1. The new kitchen layout had to stay within the existing footprint of the house.  The Weise’s did not want to add-on to their home to accommodate this new space.
   
   
2. The new design also had to maintain the current architectural style of the home to showcase the unique design and integrity of the original home.
   
   
3. Existing interior walls had overlapped siding and redwood trim, which the owners wanted to keep.  The new kitchen design and materials had to be compatible with the existing wood to ensure seamless integration of products.
   
   
4. The existing kitchen floors were concrete, which would be expensive and labor-intensive to change, so the homeowners decided to keep the concrete floor.  Susan’s design team will incorporate the concrete material into the final plan.
   
   
5. The existing concrete floors had an embedded heating system, which made any electrical and mechanical changes more challenging.
   
   
6. The house did not have any right angles, and the kitchen ceilings were vaulted.  The new layout needs to accommodate these unique features and maximize the space by using them appropriately.
